After spending years in a desk job, a volunteer stint on the show 'Restaurant Impossible' changed everything.
“It clicked for me. I liked the idea of working with food and helping others,” says Raya. This sense of community is evident in his cooking philosophy, which revolves around sharing and connecting. Initially throwing tailgates where he served pulled pork and brisket, Raya eventually turned his love for food into a business, launching 'Taco Tank' in 2017.

Starting from humble beginnings, Raya utilized creativity and resourcefulness, crafting his own food cart to sell tacos rather than hot dogs. The food truck quickly gained traction, leading him to greater opportunities. He recalls the summer of 2021 as a pivotal moment when he abandoned his desk job and doubled down on his culinary aspirations. With his successful trajectory, Barbacoa was born in April 2023, representing an important milestone in his career.
