Celebrating Culinary Queens: The Return of the Muse Soirée
As the world recognizes International Women’s Month, Kansas City is gearing up for a vibrant celebration that blends food, drink, and female empowerment. On March 8, MUSE: A Soirée Celebrating Women in Food, Drink and the Arts will take place at The Guild and Paradise Garden Club, an event designed to honor and showcase the remarkable women shaping the culinary landscape of our city.
A Taste of Kansas City’s Culinary Talent
Curated by veteran in the beverage industry, Erica Schulte, the soirée features an impressive lineup of both established and up-and-coming female chefs and beverage professionals from Kansas City. Schulte's goal is to highlight the often underrecognized faces behind our favorite local meals and drinks. "Think of how many times you’ve dined at a restaurant and fell in love with the food or drinks, but you’ve never met the women behind them," she notes, reflecting on the importance of this event in celebrating their contributions.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of food and beverage pairings at tasting stations throughout the night, bringing together flavors that reflect the diverse culinary landscape of our city. Some of the chefs participants include:
- Kami Rella - Known as Mozzarella Madam, she brings a unique cheese-centric approach to the culinary scene with pop-ups and classes that spark joy.
- Alejandra de la Fuente - Owner of Red Kitchen KC, her dishes are a callback to her roots in Guadalajara, featuring a mouthwatering breakfast menu that locals adore.
- Swetha Newcomb - A recent James Beard semifinalist, she melds Indian flavors with fine dining, crafting dishes that are as meaningful as they are delicious.
More than Just a Meal: The Impact of the Soirée
The MUSE soirée is not only an opportunity to indulge in exceptional local flavors but also a chance to give back. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Girls on the Run Kansas City, an organization dedicated to empowering young girls through athletic skills and self-confidence. Last year’s soirée raised approximately $2,500, reinforcing the event's role as a platform for charitable giving while celebrating female talent.
A Night of Vibrancy and Entertainment
This year’s festivities will be enhanced by live entertainment, including a DJ and electric violinist, creating an ambiance that is as lively as it is celebratory. Local women-owned vendors will also showcase their specialties, contributing to a market atmosphere where community and connection thrive.
