As we prepare for one of the most delightful times of the year, mark your calendars for the annual KC Halloween Train and Party this October 31, 2026! Hosted by the Kansas City Northern Miniature Railroad in tandem with Susie Q’s Coffee, this event promises a day of fun, festivities, and, of course, plenty of Halloween magic. It has become a beloved tradition in the Kansas City area, drawing families and friends together to celebrate the spirit of the season.

The train will be running from Frank Vaydik Line Creek Park, with rides operating from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kids and families can hop aboard for just $2 for a single ride or splurge on a 10-ride pass for $15! The miniature train enhances the atmosphere, creating lasting memories for families and friends as they celebrate together. It also provides a fun and safe environment for kids to enjoy the thrill of a train ride while soaking in the festive Halloween decorations throughout the park.

This year’s celebration features an exciting lineup of activities designed to entertain guests of all ages. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., participate in the Trunk or Treat Fundraiser organized by the Clay Platte Montessori & Farm School’s PTO. With an entry fee of only $5 per child, you can help support local education while enjoying a Halloween classic that promises candy, laughter, and community spirit. Local families come together, decorate their cars, and hand out various treats, creating a safe and friendly environment for children to enjoy.
Watch as master sculptor Steven Higgins mesmerizes everyone with a live wood carving demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get a look at his artistry and creativity while contributing to the growing culture of handmade art in our community. The excitement reaches a peak at 1 p.m with the ever-popular Costume Contests. Show off your creative ensemble for a chance to win a 10-ride train pass! There will be multiple categories, allowing both children and adults to participate. Dress up your pets as well; they can participate in the pet costume competition, celebrating the charm and joy that pets bring to our lives. Seeing innovative and heartfelt costumes, from superhero capes to whimsical fairy wings, showcases the imaginative spirit of our community.

Susie Q’s will be serving up their scrumptious coffee, unique “dirty sodas,” and innovative croffles—a delightful blend of croissants and waffles.
